    Road Test
The iconic Jeep Wrangler has a loyal following, thanks to its classic design, rugged image, and legendary history. Updated with a modern powertrain, this may be the best version yet. But the Wrangler is seriously outdated in the modern world. While designed for capable off-roading ability, on the road performance is uncivilized. The ride is unsettled, sometimes even snappy. Handling is very clumsy. Wind noise is pervasive even at modest speeds. While the interior has been updated and made somewhat more civilized over the years, it is still cramped and uncomfortable with awkward access. The Wrangler is unique in offering a four-door convertible, but removing the optional hard top or folding the soft top both present quite a project. The high price as tested (over $36,000) means the Wrangler is no inexpensive weekend toy.
