    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    12V battery

""ICCU recall campaigns. ICCU failed prior to 2nd recall appointment. Took Kia dealer 2.5 weeks to get a tech in Houston, TX, to diagnose issue and order replacement ICCU part, which was on national backorder. Took 37 days to repair. Kia did not provide loaner. Kia failed to provide tow per warranty service and has not reimbursed tow I had to arrange. Car is being repurchased as a lemon.""

Anonymous, TX (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"The 12V battery controls everything, i.e., windows, door locks, exterior and interior lights, car engine starts and engine stops...all are intermittent"

Anonymous, HI (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"12 volt battery died while driving."

    Anonymous A., MA (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

"ICCU failure cause the 12 V battery to go dead. Once the 12 V battery is dead nothing on the car will work. It had to be towed to the dealer and it took two months to get a replacement.ICCU."

Anonymous A., FL (2023 Kia EV6 GT Electric)

""When I went to start the car, the dashboard display stated "12V battery voltage low; stop safely." I called the Kia 1-800 number and they sent a tow truck. The tow truck was able to charge up my battery, and then they brought my car to the Kia dealership. The dealership did some diagnostics, and replaced the 12V battery under warranty.""

Anonymous, CO (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

""The original 12v battery died in less than one year, at 13,000 miles. It was replaced under warranty. The replacement 12v battery died within another year, at 29,900 miles. It was also replaced under warranty. Since that replacement, the dashboard light that shows when the 12v battery is recharging from the main battery pack is inoperative. The Kia technician said it was made inoperative by the latest recall service, but I've found no documentation to that end, and no other EV6 customers that I've communicated with online have experienced an inoperative dashboard recharging indicator light. I expect I'll continue to have 12v battery problems.""

Anonymous, NJ (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

""EV Alternator (Charge Control Unit) failed, prior to issue of recall, killing 12v battery. Because this was before the recall, repair process was challenging.""

Anonymous, CA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"Factory installed battery died just before its 3 year/36K warranty. The dealership replaced the dead battery under warranty."

Anonymous A., KS (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"See other note regarding the ICCU failure."

    Anonymous A., CA (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

"The EV6 would not charge the 12V battery. I started having to jump start the vehicle almost daily only a few months into ownership. I would take it to the dealer to have them check it. They would tell me its fine and send me on my way. They finally said they had a recall that should fix it. After about a week it started all over again. I took it back into the dealership and while they had it it stopped going into ready mode and said it was plugged in when it wasnt. They tried plugging it in but it wouldnt charge or release the charging cable. It stayed at that dealership for almost 6 months before it was finally returned to. Then the problem began all over again and I had to jump start it to get it to run almost every time I drove it. KIA finally repurchase the vehicle."

    Anonymous A., UT (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

"Battery would not retain charge and was replaced by dealer with 50% warranty coverage"

    Anonymous, BC (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)
    Keyless entry

"driver's side door handle is often difficult to unlock using the touch or press feature"

Anonymous, NC (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Other electrical system problem

""one charging software fix was done under recall, second charging hardware fix also required battery replacement done under warranty, both times we struggled with the dealer to get a rental car""

    Anonymous, OH (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

""While out running errands, we stopped for about 15 minutes, came back to the car and it wouldnt restart. Totally dead. Called AAA, they jumped the battery, and we got home. Next day, took it to dealer, they replaced the 12 V battery and charged us about $350. About a month later, a warning came on, and my partner drove to the dealer in limp mode, max 45 mph, and they diagnosed a failed ICCU. Bad news: 3-6 weeks to get the replacement part. Better news: dealer refunded the battery replacement saying it was likely caused by the defective ICCU. Dealer is also providing a loaner for the duration.""

    Anonymous A., CA (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    EV Charging

Won't charge at home; won't work with some public chargers; won't fully charge; charge connection; charge port door.

    What Owners Say

    Charges too slowly

"I have to charge at 60% of normal rate. Otherwise the home charging dies in the middle of a charging session."

Anonymous, MD (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"20%-80% charge took 12 hours. A 17%-100% charge too about 14 hours. Currently working with charger company to determine the issue."

    Anonymous A., TX (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)
    Other electric/hybrid charging problem

""Charge control system failed, car needed to be towed and was DEAD at the dealer waiting for a part from Korea for 68 days.""

    Anonymous, CA (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

""When I scheduled charging to start at home (level 1) at 9pm when rates dropped, sometimes it would fail. Occasionally, the 12 volt battery would drain and the car could not be started. (Sometimes the battery drain happened when the car was NOT plugged in.) Various recalls on the charging system - software update - were applied and did not resolve the issue. About a month ago, Kia replaced the 12V battery, which I hope fixes the issue. All has been covered (including jumping by Kia roadside assistance) under warranty, so at least I haven't paid for anything. I otherwise love the car, and have taken it on a few long trips. The fast DC charging speed at Electrify America stations is especially convenient.""

Anonymous, CA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

""Kia ICCU is a faulty design. To Kia's credit, they are going to replace the faulty unit and have provided loaner car.""

Anonymous A., SC (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"The car was included in several recalls for the ICCU and had to be towed to the dealer one time when it stopped running when driving it. I also had difficulty starting it several times, and the solution was to use a regular jumper battery to "kick start" the 12 volt battery."

    Anonymous A., PA (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)
    Problem with on-board inverter

"Was recalled three times for a 12V battery charging issue. All were actual NTSA recalls. Final time the ICCU software was updated a a new 12V battery was installed."

    Anonymous A., TX (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)
    Won't charge at home

"It started out of the blue and tripped breakers and broke my two 240-V Level 2 chargers. The first Kia shop did not have a Level 2 to test and said all the diagnostic test were fine and refuse to do anything. I took it twice to a second dealer and they confirmed the Level 2 was broken but said Kia would not authorize any repair as their diagnostic equipment did not give a code to show what to fix. So three trips and the car charging is still broken and Kia is refusing to do anything. I can DC charge but that is very expensive and inconvenient as that is a 16 mile trip to a heavy used spot. The only recourse I have now is to find a lawyer and try the Lemon law route."

    Anonymous A., TN (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

"ICCU failed and was replaced under warranty"

    Anonymous, BC (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    "ICCU issue"

Anonymous A., SC (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    "ICCU issue"

Anonymous A., SC (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
Won't DC (direct-current) fast charge at all

"I have just completed the manufacturer buyback (lemon law) process for my EV6. The vehicle would not charge when plugged in and would not go into ready mode to be able to be driven. The dealer had the vehicle for 6 months before finally returning it to me even though they already agreed to buy it back. And the problem just started up again. I would have to jump start the EV6 almost daily. Im glad its gone and will never buy KIA again. Im not sure Ill be getting another electric vehicle again any time soon. We did decide to go with a hybrid though."

    Anonymous A., UT (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)
Won't work with some public chargers

"I went to a Level 2 public charger to confirm that my car's Level 2 system was broken. I have no complaint with the public charger so in hind sight maybe I should have not selected this item as a problem."

    Anonymous A., TN (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Apple CarPlay

"Would regularly disconnect and reconnect despite being taken to the dealer many times"

    Anonymous A., PA (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    "See previous comment."

Anonymous, WI (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Backup or other camera/sensors

"Have bike rack. Plays havoc w/ backup camera. Instructions are poor. Eventually figured it out. Is time consuming cumbersome design. Takes several seconds to deactivate camera. One just sits in traffic waiting for system to understand what you want to do."

Anonymous, PA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Hardware replacement

    "Amplifier"

Anonymous, OH (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"Navigation gps is disoriented 160 miles off"

    Anonymous A., PA (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)
    Other in-car electronics problem

""Sometime KIA refuses to shut off. Can take several minutes playing w/ buttons to get shut down. Last time putting key fob on roof (out of sensor range) the power button worked. Using V2L system is not straight forward. Does not always want to engage. Not able to directly disengage snow travel when in econ mode. Must switch to sport mode, deactivate snow travel, then return to econ mode. This took dealership and self several days to fumble on to this solution.""

Anonymous, PA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"USB A port in center console stopped charging function and no longer connects to Apple car play. Did reset without correction."

Anonymous, WI (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    EV Battery

Electric/hybrid battery pack failure, replacement or malfunction, or cooling.

    What Owners Say

Electric/hybrid battery pack malfunction (didn't need replacement)

"Car went into limp mode after warning lights came on. Took it to dealer for warranty work. They fixed it but didnt really explain (bad service reps)"

    Anonymous, VA (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)
    Electric/hybrid battery pack replacement

""My EV6 began showing electrical errors 50 days ago. It has been at the dealer since March 21 (45 days). I have received different stories about the problem, but what I now believe is that the dealer is waiting for a battery module and for a technician who is qualified to replace that module. I have opened a ticket with Kia Customer Care, but they have given me no estimated time of resolution.""

Anonymous A., CO (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Other electric/hybrid battery problem

""The ICCU circuit failed. The 12volt battery couldnt be charged, it discharged. It was a sudden failure no warning. It failed on the 1st of February. The dealer replaced the circuit. I got my car back the end of March.""

    Anonymous, IN (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

"Car stopped suddenly and is a safety hazard. Car was in service for eight weeks for repairs."

Anonymous, WA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"This is really the same problem as the first one. I just was not sure how to classify it."

Anonymous A., CO (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    Body Hardware

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.

    What Owners Say

    Other body problem

""The front bumper, just below the grill, had an air-foil that came down so low that if there was a a curb or concrete parking space buffer in front of car when parking-which the front camera couldn't pick up, it scraped and broke when backing out of space, although it moved forward over it ok when pulling into space. In general, it scratches at the slightest touch, and dents almost as easily.""

Anonymous A., UT (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

""The parking sensor bracket detached from the inside of the bumper, cause unknown. The failure was covered by the vehicle warranty and required replacement of the bumper. It took 37 days for the repair. A free rental car was provided by the dealership.""

Anonymous, CA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    Electric Motor

Electric drive failure, replacement or malfunction.

    What Owners Say

Electric drive motor failure - replacement

"it was an engine alert. I got the alert and had to go to the dealership."

Anonymous, KS (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Other electric/hybrid motor problem

"Seemed to be an issue with the MCU (computer that controls electric motors - AWD). Nothing wrong with either motor but MCU needed replaced. Message that said to stop driving immediately was disconcerting, but car was actually in limp-home mode, which was still driveable at moderates speeds. Able to drive car to dealership. Replacement was covered by warranty."

    Anonymous, NJ (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    Noises/Leaks

    What Owners Say

    Other climate system problem

"almost the exact same problem as my previous VW eGolf, the heat pumps are too complex and the valve switching system "breaks" resulting in no heat or AC. Parts are back ordered."
