    Anonymous, (2019 Kia Sorento 3.3-L V6)
    Blower (fan) motor

"Loose wire made it intermittent. Dealt with it for years. Hard to find since it didnt occur regularly."

    Anonymous A., MN (2019 Kia Sorento LX 3.3-L V6)
    Condenser

"It gets too cold and will freeze up. I have to turn off air conditioning until it thaws. Then I can resume using air conditioning. (Its hard to believe this is the problem, but thats what Ive been told. No solution except for the one they suggested above. Really?!)"

    Anonymous A., MN (2019 Kia Sorento LX 3.3-L V6)
    Heater system

"I first noticed the fan was blowing cold air in the fall of 2023 when the heat setting was at 21. It appeared to be doing it only during idling at first but it is sporadic and will blow cold air when driving as well. I had a repair done on a weak component (can't remember which one) but the problem still appears sporadically."

Anonymous, AB (2019 Kia Sorento EX 3.3-L V6)

    Drive System

Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, electronic stability control.

    What Owners Say

Anonymous, MO (2019 Kia Sorento SX 3.3-L V6)

"The cv joint started as a minor vibration which you only felt on exelerattion iteventually turned into a full vibration all the time. Turned out the 2 front cv joint are a kia part only for a fantastic price..."

Anonymous, ON (2019 Kia Sorento SXL 3.3-L V6)
    Traction control

"Dash light stays on so I drive without the use of this control. Probably a sensor"

    Tire wear is uneven

    "Didnt pass inspection"

Anonymous, PA (2019 Kia Sorento EX 3.3-L V6)

    What Owners Say

    Body control module

"Transmission light came on. Unknown code per dealer. Had it two days and turns out that an update of the body control module must be done before determining what is wrong. This fixed it but was not covered because it was "electronic" rather than transmission related. Even though it directly effected the transmission."

    Anonymous A., AL (2019 Kia Sorento LX 3.3-L V6)
    Keyless entry

"Driver side Keyless entry (handle) needed to be replaced as it stopped working. (thankfully it is still under warranty, so no cost to me to be replaced/fixed)"

Anonymous, WA (2019 Kia Sorento SX 3.3-L V6)
    Self-turning headlights

"I got an error light on the dash and the self turning headlights would not work. Kia West Edmonton told me I needed to replace the passenger side headlight assembly for $3500. I said no, I researched the problem and saw that the Kia Stinger had a recall for the self-turning headlights in the USA. I had the same error code as the Kia Stinger recall. I told this to Kia Canada and they said that it was not related. I managed to remove the cover off the back of the passenger side headlight and the desiccant had expanded, broke the bracket and was preventing the headlight from moving. I ordered a new bracket and desiccant from a Kia dealership and fixed the problem myself. There was nothing wrong with the headlight and it works perfect now. I followed the procedure from the Kia Stinger recall and it totally fixed the problem with my self-turning headlight. Instead of the $3500 Kia West Edmonton was going to charge, it cost me $150 for a bracket and smaller desiccant packs."

    Anonymous A., AB (2019 Kia Sorento SXL 3.3-L V6)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    Other paint & trim problem

"The rubber molding around the sunroof has deteriorated and replaced 3 times"

    Anonymous A., MD (2019 Kia Sorento SXL 3.3-L V6)
Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling)

"It started a few months after we bought the car. I went back to the dealer, who told me that it was no big dealit was just that a rock had chipped the paint. Then I went to an auto body shop, where they told me that the paint was defective. They told me the sister company, Hyundai, has those same issues with their cars. When I returned, they told me I could either buy a paint pen or trade in the car for a new one. I then contacted Kia, but they said they could not do anything because the dealer did not give me a paper verifying I went to the dealer that day. I am in the process of finding a lawyer to see if I can do anything from a legal standpoint about it. Overall, it isn't enjoyable. It is one of the reasons why I would not repurchase this car."

Anonymous, CA (2019 Kia Sorento LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Other major engine problem

"We have had to take it in several times now for oil consumption test. These problems took a few months because you have to drive the car. It is consuming 1-4 quarts every thousand miles. They did a top engine clean as the last attempted fix. The last consumption test came in just barely normal now so they say it is fixed, we just need to add oil all the time. This does not seem like a good fix in any way. The car is on warranty"

    Anonymous A., MI (2019 Kia Sorento L 3.3-L V6)

    Fuel System/Emissions

Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank.

    What Owners Say

"Sensor stopped operating when gas tank was overfilled."

Anonymous, CA (2019 Kia Sorento LX 3.3-L V6)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Display screen goes blank

"The display screen seems to go blank only when the car is hot like on a hot sunny day. As soon as the car cools off it comes back at the next engine start. Kia said they never heard of this problem before but o don't believe them..."

Anonymous, ON (2019 Kia Sorento SXL 3.3-L V6)

    Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Slipping transmission

"Coming home from a long road trip in the mountains, the transmission started slipping and engine light came on. Decided to stop at hotel and get it checked the next day at dealership. Had a code regarding torque converter and Kia told me it needed a new transmission but could be driven a while longer. Done home and took it to a transmission shop, they said there's chatroom talk or software issue and possible fix with update so recommend try that first. Took it back to another KIA dealership, they did the software patch and it's been good ever since."

Anonymous, MO (2019 Kia Sorento Unsure)

    Noises And Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    Engine Electrical

Alternator, starter, hybrid battery replacement, hybrid battery related systems, regular battery, battery cables, engine harness, coil, ignition switch, electronic ignition, spark plugs and wires failure, auto stop/start.

    Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

    Engine Cooling

Radiator, cooling fan, water pump, thermostat, antifreeze leaks, overheating.

A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.
    Summary:
Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2019 Sorento vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, water may leak into the rearview camera, which can cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
    What should you do:
Dealers will inspect the rearview camera and add additional water proofing to the camera harness, or replace the camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 8, 2024. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC282.

A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
    Summary:
Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2016-2022 Sorento, 2021-2022 Sorento Hybrid (HEV), 2022-2023 Sorento Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), and 2017-2022 Sportage vehicles equipped with a tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Kia dealership. Debris and moisture accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.
    What should you do:
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will inspect the vehicle, and, as necessary, replace the fuse and/or tow hitch harness module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 11, 2023. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC249.
