They said it was because I did not change the oil consistently at the same time - e.g. sometimes I did it at 4,000 miles and sometimes at 5,000 miles even though the synthetic oil said it would go up to 7,000. I still do not understand - I never went longer than the oil change said I could go but they said that now I have to always change the oil at 4,000 - never earlier or later. I had to pay $5,000 but they paid the rest and they paid for my loaner /rental new car off the lot while they had it for 6 weeks (which was huge). It was not under warranty at the time - it had just gone off. That part felt fair but the whole failing was crazy. Overall the car is okay, it just isn't as good as my last car. But, I got it from a family member for a good price so I really can't complain."

"Complete engine failure due to manufacturing defect. Engine ran out of oil with no warning and caused significant damage requiring replacement @ 137K Kilometers. Kia Canada replaced the engine under warranty. All we had to pay was labour. About $800. Kia stepped up to replace the engine as this was a issue resulting in over 300k failures for the 2014 models."

"This was a software issue that was corrected by Kia through a recall notice. The car would go into "limp mode" not allowing it to go over 20kph. Kia install new software to correct the problem."
