    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2024 Lexus RX owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"Drove a BMW for four years previous to the Lexus RX. The BMW electronics were practically flawless, once we became familiar with the operations. But the Lexus' Navigation system does not compare well to the BMW. It is difficult to communicate with, by voice. It is slow. The directions provided are often out of the way, if not plainly wrong. And the screen freezes sometimes and we have to go out and come back in."

    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"Would not work started car again and it worked"

Anonymous, PA (2024 Lexus RX 350.0 2.4-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Steering wheel controls

"Impossible to figure out how to use Cruise Control and the Lexus Operators Manual does not explain how to set or resume."

Anonymous, SD (2024 Lexus RX 350.0 2.4-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Gear selector or linkage

"It began soon after I leased the vehicle. Happens frequently but the dealer CANNOT find the problem. I have had 2 lexus models simultaneously for the past 20 years and this is the worst. Dealer cant find the problem and Lexus does nothing."

Anonymous, NJ (2024 Lexus RX 350.0 Unsure)
    Rough shifting

"They changed the configuration completely. You have to go to Drive first from Park before you can put it in Reverse. Dealer never told this to us. A piece of crap."

Anonymous, NJ (2024 Lexus RX 350.0 Unsure)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other/unsure

"No second key for 5 weeks & counting because of chip shortage."

Anonymous, IN (2024 Lexus RX 350.0 2.4-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    A/C compressor

"Lexus RXs have a serious problem with the A/C compressor unit where they are vulnerable to leak due to rocks from the road. The dealer has seen this issue on several new vehicles (less than 5000 miles on odometer) and their 800 customer service line acknowledged they had been experienced numerous calls about the issue. They will not warranty this item even though they know it is an issue. On my vehicle the air conditioning NEVER worked and they refused to cover."

    Electrical Accessories

"The digital key is useless and does not work 99% of the time. Frequently goes missing from the app"

Anonymous, PA (2024 Lexus RX 350.0 2.4-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Drive System

Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, electronic stability control.

    What Owners Say

    Driveline vibration

"In driving several '24 cars of this model, it appears to be a problem that is inherent. The vibration appears at about 30 MPH only slightly, but over 60 MPH it is distracting especially for the front passenger. We noticed it when we first test drove a different car, and reported it to the sales person who denied ever hearing of it. Later he told us that he reported it to the service department and the technician could not detect any vibration. Four out of four of the cars we drove had this issue. The car we bought seemed to vibrate the least but it does continue to be a distraction."

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

A head restraint that is inadvertently removed and not reinstalled can increase the risk of injury during a rear-end crash.
    Summary:
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 Lexus RX 350, RX 350h, 2024-2025 NX 250, NX 350, and NX 350h vehicles. The head restraints on the driver and front passenger seats may be inadvertently removed without pressing the lock release button. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Number 202, "Head Restraints."
    What should you do:
Dealers will replace the driver and front passenger seat head rest assemblies, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 19, 2024. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. The final remedy is anticipated, phase 1 planned for late November 2024 and phase 2, January 2025. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24LB06 and 24LA06.
