Mazda CX-5

"When I shift to reverse, the rear camera screen should display. About 5% of the time, display freezes. I then turn off engine, remove key then restart. Normally all is then ok."

"We started noticing a slight fuel smell about a year ago, when our car had about 60k miles, that slowly got worse. Our local mechanic was unable to find the cause until recently (our closest Mazda dealer is 80 miles away since the local dealer left the area 5 yrs ago). The fuel smell was caused by small cracks in the plastic top of the fuel pump sending unit that leaked when the tank was filled up. the dealer would have taken 3 days to get the part to us so I had to pick the part up myself. Mazda doesn't sell the sending unit without the fuel pump, although they do sell the fuel pump by itself. The dealer said this is a common problem with cx-5s. My mechanic's cost of the sending unit with pump was $600 and his labor was $300."

"Car lost acceleration power while driving and would not start the next day. Diagnosed as a fuel pump issue. Replaced high pressure fuel pump and runs fine now. Problem occurred at about 165,000 miles. Low pressure fuel pump in the fuel tank was fine."
