    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2024 Mazda CX-50 owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    A/C compressor

"Started a few weeks after I purchased the vehicle. A/C fan had to be run at full speed to provide any cooling and a day later the A/C failed completely"

    Anonymous, TX (2024 Mazda CX-50 Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Automatic climate control

"A/C seems very weak. Hard to get temps down in the summer compared to previous vehicles I have owned."

    Anonymous, CO (2024 Mazda CX-50 Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    Keyless entry

"The car randomly does not lock as expected when you walk away from the car with the fob in your pocket. No pattern I can discern yet. Have not discussed yet with the dealer service department."

Anonymous, ON (2024 Mazda CX-50 Turbo 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Wireless charging pad

"Good placement, should be larger. Works until it gets hot which happens quickly. Also weak, I had to remove my phone case for it to work."

    Anonymous, CO (2024 Mazda CX-50 Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

    Drive System

Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, electronic stability control.

    What Owners Say

    Differential

"At approximately 1000 miles on the odometer, the rear differential made rapid clicking sounds at low speeds coming to a stop. Mazda service department had this vehicle for 3 1/2 weeks to replace the rear differential and differential clutch pack. A few weeks after that, the vehicles are returned to the service departments for vibrating noise it produced at highway speeds. They had it for an additional four weeks to replace the driveshaft back to the rear differential. Two days later, after receiving the vehicle back, it was returned for the third time for the exact same vibrating sound. It has been in the shop cents the time of this writing. Since I purchased this vehicle, it has been in the shop longer than Ive had it at home in my driveway."

    Anonymous, OH (2024 Mazda CX-50 Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other/unsure

"20 inch alloys too stiff ride, little storage inside, hitting my head getting inside ref low roof, too thin steering wheel, HUD window glare with sun in front of car, interior attracts too much dust and dirt, intermittent 6 speed auto clunking, climate/audio/screen too tiny & far away."

Anonymous, BC (2024 Mazda CX-50 Turbo 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Noises And Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Squeaks or rattles

"There is a high pitch squeak and rattle that occurs at high speed near the back seat. Its annoying. The dealer has not been able to find or resolve, and there are many message boards about it on other CX-50s."

Anonymous, FL (2024 Mazda CX-50 Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

    What Owners Say

    Rotors

"The front left rotor was defective at 9000 miles. The dealer begrudgingly fixed it without a fee. They should have fixed it willingly! This is our 9th Mazda, and WILL NOT buy from this dealer again."

Anonymous, FL (2024 Mazda CX-50 Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.
