Mercedes-Benz GLC Plug-in Hybrid First Drive
    Introduction
The new GLC 350e is a plug-in hybrid compact luxury SUV with an EPA-rated 54 miles of all-electric driving. Unlike almost all PHEVs, the battery can be charged in DC-fast charging places in a little over an hour. The electric drive smooths out low-speed drivability issues and eliminates the shudder that comes with the stop/start and initial hesitation of the regular GLC that we tested. The turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, combined with the electric drive, supplies a healthy punch that feels more robust than the regular GLC. Handling is agile and confidence-inspiring, and the ride is steady and more compliant than the regular GLC. The front seats are super comfortable and supportive, and the rear seat is roomy. Unfortunately, the unintuitive controls are distracting to use while driving. Optional driving assistance features include an advanced adaptive cruise control that is capable of changing lanes.
