    Reliability

    Overall Reliability

We expect the 2025 Frontier will be less reliable than the average new car. This prediction is based on data from 2022 and 2023 models, and the Nissan brand score.

    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2015 Nissan Frontier owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Noises And Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Air or water leaks

"Water leaks enter the cab through the sunroof drains and the cabin vent."

    Anonymous, WA (2015 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X 4.0-L V6)
    Seals and/or weather-stripping

"Found the interior wet after it rained. The windshield seal was a problem. Needed to replace the windshield and seal."

    Anonymous, (2015 Nissan Frontier SV 4.0-L V6)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

"I have an iPod carefully positioned, so as not to "kink" the cable, and connected in the compartment between the two front seats. About a year ago, maybe a little more, when the truck was started the display "reading..check device" (or something like that). I would have to unplug and reseat the USB and it would read it fine. It was ntermittent at first then became pretty constant. First it was after the truck sat in the garage overnight, then it was whenever I turned the truck off, say to go into a store. I have an extended warranty and mentioned it to the dealer where purchased. It was suggested I change the cable. Made sense and I had a new cable, but that did not clear the problem so I went back to the orininal cable. Then the display had the same error message but played the next cued song. That was new. I video'd the display with sound to show the service department at the dealership. (No feedback yet.) But, months later, I have only had to unplug and reseat the USB maybe once or twice since I reported it to the dealership. I don't get it... BTW: Love the truck!"

    Other in-car electronics problem

"I already answered this on a previous screen but would like to add a non-electronic comment... This is the fourth Nissan vehicle I have owned over the years and keep coming back for many reasons. However, I have one complaint or suggestion: I owned a 1997 Pathfinder for 22 years. It had something that has been discontinued and wish Nissan would bring it back for ALL models... It had a double visor; The main one I could swing to the side window and a second one that could be dropped down for the windshield. It was BRILLIANT! I didn't even know I had it for a long time. Once discovered, I fell in love with it because it was especially helpful on winding roads or curves on the highway. I got so used to it that when I bought a non-Nissan after the Pathfinder (a big mistake) I went to a junkyard, bought the two double visors and had them retro-fitted into the new vehicle. I'm thinking about doing it again for the Frontier. It would save my arm from constantly moving the single back and forth when needed, prevent distraction from the road and save me from the blinding sun. Please, let Nissan know my thoughts."

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.
