What Owners Say
"GEAR CHANGING WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD THEN RPMS DROP EVEN IF I PUT THE GAS TO IT, IT WANT GO. THIS IS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THIS STARTED ABOUT TWO WEEKS AAFTER I PURCHASED IT FROM A NISSAN DEALER.I SIGNED A AS IS AGREEMENT SO I AM STUCK. I WAS TOLD IT WAS ONE OWNER IT HAD 57,000 MILE ON IT. WHEN I GOT TO CHECKING IT HAD FOUR OWNERS . I CHECKED WITH RECALLS NOTHING BUT THE SAME PROBLEMS WERE LISTED BY OTHERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE(127) COMPLAINTS."
Anonymous, (2014 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet 3.5-L V6)"My transmission had to replaced March 17, 2020 at the cost of $5,000.00 and 90,215 miles on the car!"
Anonymous A., PA (2014 Nissan Murano SL 3.5-L V6)"The transmission slippages were masked from the dealer, when it became apparent was a few months into my ownership. It would hesitate to move and when it would, it would clunck, move slowly, then take off. You wouldn't dare pull out into traffic from a stop. It got to the point that it would just edge a bit forward and then one day, it just quit moving. Had it towed to have a new transmission put in it. That cost a whopping $6000. Now it runs like a champ. This issue was one year shy of being in a lawsuit from other year's models of Muranos."

"I first noticed problems with the transmission in August 2023 while driving on a long road trip at around 83,000 miles. The engine remained at 4000 rpm most of the trip, it usually stays between 2000-3000 while at a steady speed and only goes higher when accelerating. I also heard a high-pitched whirring noise and felt like it was hesitating or sticking. There were no warning lights on dash. I took it to my local mechanic but we couldn't duplicate the issue, he performed the recommended transmission service and it seemed to help for a while. I seriously thought about selling the car at that point because I have read about many issues with the Nissan CVTs. Then in April 2024, around 90,000 miles, I first got a warning about a loose a fuel cap even though it was secure. And the same transmission issues happened again (high rpms, noise). About a week later, the check engine light came on. My mechanic did a smoke test and checked diagnostics. He told me the light was on for 2 reasons, codes P1778 and P0456 and that it would need a new Transmisson ($7500) and solenoid ($375). I'm waiting to get a second opinion from a transmission repair shop but I probably won't fix this car given it's age and mileage."
