    First Take
The Cayenne luxury, midsized SUV received a freshening for 2008, with revised styling and more power. It comes with a choice of a Volkswagen-based V6 engine, a Porsche V8, or a twin-turbo version of the V8. Low-range gearing and advanced electronics promise some off-road capability. The S and Turbo are very fast but lack the trademark agility of a Porsche. Some controls are overly complicated. Like the Range Rover, the Turbo has an automatically adjustable ride height. Reliability has been below average.
