    "2 alignments in 3 years"

Anonymous, NS (2017 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Wheel bearings

"Grinding noise rear wheels relative to vehicle speed. Dealer cost $2000. Subaru service bulletin from 2019 alerted dealers but Crosstrek owners were not notified or compensated."

Anonymous, MA (2017 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"Wheel bearing were very noisy and were replaced as a DIY project. Vehicle has come from salty road environment and bearing were rusted in place."

Anonymous, NC (2017 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"Wheel bearing worn out on one wheel"

Anonymous, NS (2017 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Catalytic converter

"Check engine light came on at 95000 miles, code P0420, 90% interstate miles, causing Eyesight, remote start (a $500 factory add), hill holder, cruise control, lane change and driver assist brake systems to stop working. I consider this a serious safety issue. The car starts, idles, and accelerates just like it did when it was new. Gas mileage has dropped slightly to 27 mpg. The only "problem" is the light is on. Dealer wants $3200 to replace converter but will not guarantee that fixes the problem. Went to a muffler shop and got an after market cat installed for $1200, that did not fix it, my trusted mechanic says aftermarket cats often don't work because they don't provide the exact flow requirements of the original. I understand many cars are made so that unrelated systems stop working if a check engine light comes on. I would write my congressman but we both know how much good that would do. The light randomly goes off for about 30 to 50 miles, then comes back on, it's on 90% of the time now. This is my third, and last, subaru."

Anonymous A., VA (2017 Subaru Crosstrek Base 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Other/unsure

"Gas cap malfunction, car failed emissions testing. Problem solved."

Anonymous, CO (2017 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"The radio changes channels any time it wants to. When I try to get back to the station I have to push several buttons. I complained & the dealer tried to fix it, the radio was recalled & I brought it to the dealer & they fixed it but it still changes by itself. I have Sirius satellite but I never had this problem with the 2 previous cars."

Anonymous, AL (2017 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    Transmission rebuild or replacement

"WE purchased this vehicle used. When you turned the wheel hard, there was a clicking noise and a jump or skip motion. Diagnosed by Subaru dealership stating that oversized tires put on by previous owner caused issue (we had replaced with regular sized tires right after we bought the car). we had to replace the transmission, clutch etc for around $10,000."

    EXTERIOR LIGHTING
    Feb 28, 2019
Brake lights that do not illuminate properly will not alert other drivers that the vehicle is slowing or stopping, increasing the risk of crash.
    Summary:
Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Forester, 2008-2016 Impreza sedans, 2012-2016 Impreza station wagons, 2008-2014 WRX sedans (including STI), and 2013-2017 Crosstrek vehicles. Exposure to certain contaminants may cause the brake light switch to malfunction, preventing the brake lights from illuminating and also preventing keyless ignition vehicles from starting and CVT/automatic transmissions from being able to be shifted out of Park.
    What should you do:
Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake light switch, free of charge. The recall began April 15, 2019. Owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Subaru's number for this recall is WUE-90.
