    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Android Auto

"Just stops Working. Dealer blamed it on my "old" (4 yrs) phone. Then they blamed it on the cord. I got a new phone and cord. It continues to stop working w no rhyme or reason. When it works it's great. When the shop 'updates' it, I get charged. Subaru of America should not charge for any electronic update"

Anonymous A., PA (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Apple CarPlay

"Sometimes switching to apple car play does not work. It is not the cable, I have used different cables and the only way I can resolve it is to turn off the car, open the door, because otherwise the radio component stays on and only shuts off or resets when I open the care door. Then I start all over again by turning on the car and plug in the phone and then it works."

Anonymous, MA (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Base 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"The car stopped recognizing our iPhones n Car Play after a forced OTA update and the system required a hard re-boot in order to recognize our iPhones again."

Anonymous A., VA (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Display screen freezes up

"Just freezes. I stop and turn off car if it's safe and hope it turns back on especially if I am somewhere I need my GPS. Its erratic and just happens. I am not amused."

Anonymous A., PA (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Display screen goes blank

"the display would glitch and was inoperable, it drained the battery, it would not function, I brought it to a dealer, they had no idea, I bought a new replacement system used and put it in."

Anonymous, MN (2018 Subaru Crosstrek 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"A few months ago the GPS system started to fail. The problem was resolved by the dealer under an extended warranty."

Anonymous, (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Other in-car electronics problem

"all the instrument lights stayed lit for about a day following a routine service appointment. This prevented safe driving, but resolved spontaneously after about 48 hours"

Anonymous, IL (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"WIth Phone pairing, it often pairs but you can barely hear the person and the person can barely hear you. I can switch it to apple play but it doesn't always work."

Anonymous, MA (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Base 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"Stopped connecting to my phones mapping system / navigation. No longer feeds onto my screen."

    "replaced battery"

Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"Battery drainage issues when no fault of driver. Have had to replace battery 5 times since Ive owned this car. I jump the battery WAY too often."

Anonymous A., MD (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"Map navigation upgrade did not really have recent map changes. Also, the navigation system didn't warn of pending traffic issues."

Anonymous A., OH (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"Sudden & repeated battery depletion which didn't improve with new battery. Local dealer/repair refused to admit it was due to something in the car, but replaced the NEW battery & called it OK. This 2d new battery seems to work, but am always checking it as I don't trust it or dealer fully. "Repair" cost me $1800 even with a 5-year warranty. Generally like car but don't trust dealers."

Anonymous, WA (2018 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"Rear wheel bearings, passenger and driver side were replaced at around 89K miles. No less than 6K miles later both went bad again. Dealer (Hawk Subaru) replaced both free of charge under their 1-year parts and labor warranty."
