Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Android Auto

"Android Auto doesn't connect all the time. There have been times I've had to uninstall the app and turn the car off and wait a period of 5-10 mins and restart the car and then the app works."

Anonymous, MD (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Apple CarPlay

""Occasionally Apple Car play will not connect to my phone. Only fix is to turn off the engine, exit the vehicle, and wait 10 minutes.""

Anonymous, TX (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Base 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"Doesn't connect all the time or cuts in/out once connected."

Anonymous, WA (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

Anonymous, FL (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Display screen goes blank

"I've had the head unit replaced once already since buying the car two years ago. Even after the replacement I had the screen go black and when that happens the radio still plays but the backup camera becomes obsolete."

Anonymous, MD (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Hardware replacement

"The physical knobs for the radio headunit do not function. Steering wheel buttons or on screen buttons must be used."

Anonymous, CA (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Over-the-air software update failed

""Software update failed in my driveway. Screen went to gray. In reality the head unit did not reset or turn off and within 24 hours battery discharged completely sitting in dealer lot waiting for service. Battery is a "wear item" so not covered under extended warranty, however, Subaru of America refunded 50% of battery replacement cost and the dealer, after some back and forth, refunded 20% off their bill.""

Anonymous, PA (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"I am supposed to be able to update software as long as the car is in range of my wifi but am unable to do so. Local dealerships charge almost $200 if you take it there for an update. That seems ridiculous to me. I've tried to follow various online forums to do the update but my specific model apparently does not have the options advised. So, now I don't know if all the android auto and Bluetooth glitches are because of the Subaru software, my phone, or bugs in the apps."

Anonymous A., PA (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"My phone randomly disconnects in areas where I have previously had a connection. I have to reconnect and download my contacts almost every day if I want to use various features like calling home via voice or manually pushing a favorites button on the head unit."

Anonymous A., PA (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"System occasionally drops the connection between the phone and system."

Anonymous A., FL (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Base 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

Anonymous, PA (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Base 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Tire pressure monitor

"Initially, tire pressures read incorrectly low on two tires. Issue went away on its own, but was replaced with a TPMS system fault which annoyingly blinks the low tire pressure light. Mechanics verified that the sensors were functioning correctly, and referred me to the Subaru dealership for further troubleshooting. Given previous negative experience with their service department. I've more or less chosen to ignore the issue."

Anonymous, IL (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

""In mid-April, the tire pressure was showing overly high pressures, then it stopped working. The warning light is on. The dealer can fix this for $800, a tire store MIGHT be able to fix it for $200 with after-market parts.""

    Premature brake wear

""Typical North East winter salt rust corrosion of brake pads corrode to the rotor , usually the inside pads , and wear the pad and rotor so the dealer always says you have to replace the rotors and pads to the whole axle so it becomes hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Found non dealer mechanic who charged for freeing up and lubricating the brake parts so they operate unencumbered. There was enough pad and rotor left with out having to replace the rotors and pads that should last at least this year before replacement is needed. I believe dealer mecjhanics get paid a percentage of any parts they sell so they are inclined to just want to replace parts instead of repairing parts.""

Anonymous A., NY (2019 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
