    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Apple CarPlay

"A car software update fixed a communication issue between iPhones and Apple CarPlay."

Anonymous, CT (2025 Subaru Forester Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Apple Car play randomly shuts down even when using it for GPS. Then, there is no way to reconnect it because it does not show as an available option to choose on the control screen. The icon is a visible gray form but it is not available to select even if you plug the I-phone (15) in directly. The flat charging unit under the display cannot be counted on to work either because the phone has to be in the EXACT position and can't possibly slide one millimeter. Anyway, to fix Apple Car Play, I have rebooted the entire display system. This does not hold the information long and kicks the I-Phone off again within a few drives. The way that lasts the longest is to unpair the phone, clear the phone out from the car's system, restart the I-phone, and then repair the I-phone. Ugh!!!!!!!"

Anonymous, PA (2025 Subaru Forester Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Apple Car Play is inconsistent and not integrated with an iPhone 16. Constant issues that need to be addressed."

Anonymous A., CT (2025 Subaru Forester Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Display screen freezes up

"The 2025 Subaru is a disappointment from my 2019, the display screen freezes, takes too long to tune in to different station, does not have a button for garage door openener, and many more display screen and other problems with the 2025 Subaru Forester."

Anonymous, (2025 Subaru Forester Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"The display screen frequently takes significant time to respond. Supposedly Subaru says there's a built-in half-second delay so you can tap and then look back at the road. First, that doesn't work that way - I don't know if I've successfully tapped until I know it visually or via audio. Second, it is frequently much, much longer than a second. So I assume the screen is freezing."

    Anonymous A., (2025 Subaru Forester Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"display screenn has a psychotic breakdown and needed to be replaced under warrannty"

Anonymous A., CA (2025 Subaru Forester Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

Anonymous, NY (2025 Subaru Forester Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

"Trouble moving between music and podcast through Apple Car Play."

Anonymous, NY (2025 Subaru Forester Sport 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Hardware replacement

""took car in for "touch of class" service. about 1 mile after getting it back, the screen started psychotic random selection jumping from radio station to station, turning off/on seat heaters, ventilation, A/C, audio source. several times a second. No amount of manual override worked. returned to dealership immediately. problem continued. they took it and gave me a loaner. Turns out they had to replace the entire infotainment system""

Anonymous A., CA (2025 Subaru Forester Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"If using Google Maps, the onscreen map will only show a small portion of the route that is displayed on your phone. For some reason, it only shows the route on the bottom right hand side of the screen and you cannot enlarge the portion that you need to see. Once in awhile it works like a normal map should but it's better not to use Google Maps when you are trying to follow an onscreen map. The map that comes with the I-phone works the best."

Anonymous, PA (2025 Subaru Forester Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Other in-car electronics problem

"DCM part was replaced. Under warranty. No charge to us. No hassle. Part was repaired as soon as replacement arrived at the dealership"

""while driving in rain, the "eye sight" safety feature turns off and disables the cruise control and automatic braking. Also, the touch screen has a slow response or no response especially in cold weather.""

    What Owners Say

    Fuel injection system

""Horrible experience! At end of December 2024, all my warning lights went on, including "check engine". Went to dealership (couldn't get an appointment for a couple days). After initial check, was told it would take about a week to diagnose and fix. At end of week, was told it would take until February 12th to get the part and repair. That's 1.5 MONTHS!!!!! I was completely shocked! I was told the fuel pump was cracked and the part was on back-order. I was provided a "loaner". On February 12th my car was repaired and returned. On receipt, the part is described as "evap leak detection pump", and having an "internal electrical failure", though again the service manager told me it was "cracked". To date, there's been no recurrence of the issue.""

Subaru immediately took action look at the cause of the failure and told me it was a manufacturing defect. I was given a 2025 outback loaner car and 18 days later Subaru returned my Forster Sport with a brand-new transmission and I've added another 250 miles the car with no problems whatsoever. I guess you could say if you're going to have a failure there's no better automobile company and Subaru bring to bear their engineering folks analyze the vehicle and come up with not only a cause but a timely solution.
