    First Take
The Impreza is by far the lowest-priced car equipped with all-wheel drive. even though it was introduced back in 1993, this remains a well-conceived and competitive car. Sprightly performance is standard fare: The Impreza Outback Sport version is fun to drive, with responsive handling, a willing engine, and competent braking, the RS even more so. The controls are logically laid out, and the ride is relatively good for a small car. The front seats provide ample support, but the rear seat is cramped. And cargo room is a bit skimpy.
