What Owners Say
"The front lower control arm bushings were replaced in June 2024."
Anonymous, FL (2012 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited 3.6-L 6 Cyl)"On June 7th this year, the right rear wheel of our Outback actually semi-detached while we were driving. Once I got the car stopped the wheel was at an approximately 20 degree angle, with the wheel splayed out at the front. Fortunately I was on a side street with no other traffic approximately 1/2 mile from home and going maybe 25 mph. I was able to stop the car in about 30 yards. The car was towed (AAA) to a local shop. The shop found that the "right rear lateral link" had severed. They also noted that in their experience this failure was relatively common in Subarus. I had them replace the link for both rear wheels. Notably we had just two weeks prior to this taken a 600 plus mile trip to the Adirondacks much of it at highway speeds, so we really felt we had been beyond lucky. I have photos showing the link failure. Contact me at rlozeau@att.net if you would like to see them. Also, the shop indicated that they had also seen similar failures in Camry's, though not as often. They Camry was also taken in but nothing untoward was found."
Anonymous A., MA (2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"Car was making a noise when turning sharply. AWD train needed repairing. May have been from damaged by previous user or just the amount of miles on the car. However, when I first mentioned the concern at the dealership they could not find the problem until months later. Drive train slipping? I dont know if Im explaining it correctly. Its been repaired and is running fine. Expensive repair."

Anonymous, FL (2012 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited 3.6-L 6 Cyl)"Started about 12 months ago. Resulted in increased noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. Took it to local Subaru dealer about 6 months ago. Diagnosed rear wheel bearings needed to be replaced. Had them complete that repair at that time. This has solved the problem."

Anonymous, NC (2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"Pay attention to what you hear and get diagnoses early, We had three wheels with degrading bearings when we thought it was only one. We wish wed paid closer attention to the subtle sound changes and got these fixed sooner; any one of them could have seized in the highway. Were glad we got them all checked."
