What Owners Say
"One morning, the front end began making groaning noises at low speed. Got the car in for service within a week. They replaced upper control arms, bushings, lateral links. No problems since. Also replaced all four tires in the same visit. The car had 95K+ miles at the time this was done."
Anonymous A., MD (2020 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Electric)"This was all part of the same issue as the other problem. Everything was fixed in one visit."
Anonymous A., MD (2020 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Electric)"Fortunately before warranty expired the front end of the car started creaking loudly, like a car from the 70s. Tesla replaced both front control arms completely and the tech stated this was a known issue in the design and would likely happen again after 30-40k miles. The car had about 48000mi on it at the time."
Anonymous, CA (2020 Tesla Model 3 Standard Electric)"When I first received it it had an odd noise that only occurred when crossing into and out of my driveway. I could not reproduce it with a Tesla tech so I let it pass. Shortly after it passed 50,000 miles it developed a loud grinding noise at the front which required $1,800 to replace/repair."
Anonymous A., CA (2020 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Electric)"Significant "clunking" noise from right wheel, which is apparently a model issue. Warranty repaired with no problems."
Anonymous, NH (2020 Tesla Model 3 Performance Electric)"Left front wheel bearing had to be replaced. At first the service guys in the app tried to tell me my front suspension parts would have to be replaced, which must be a profit zone, because they replaced my rear suspension for $3000 when the problem (when I went back a week later with the same noise present) was the shock absorber that I told them it was THE FIRST TIME, and they apparently didn't even look at it. I eventually convinced them to look at the wheel bearing first, and lo and behold that was it. However, to make sure they make more profit they did something to my front suspension, because the side of the replaced wheel bearing is now creaking, and it happened within a month of my front wheel bearing problem. I have changed Tesla repair shops, but we need independent people who can get Tesla parts and know how to repair them, because I think they see service as a racket."

"The car abruptly began making loud creaking noises in the front end. Online research revealed that this is common in the Tesla Model 3. Luckily, the car was still under warranty, so it was repaired at no cost. But if the repair lasts only as long as the original equipment did, it will be out of warranty the next time it happens. This is a major concern. This is a good place to bring up our other huge concern: the drastically insufficient service network. When the car needs a repair, it requires a journey of 100 miles each way to the nearest service facility. Not only that, but often that first visit is just diagnostic, and I have to go back again."
