"We bought this used car last year with only 40k miles on it. When it came time for our state I spection renewal we were told that the frame was rusted and had soft spots - wouldn't renew inspection. We were told that we should've known about Toyotas rusting frame problems. This car was pristine - garage kept had all service records and was rarely driven. It belonged to an elderly woman who only used it in the winter. She paid $33K for it in 2006 - brand new. Only put 40K miles on it & the frame is rusted out - unsafe. Unacceptable. Toyota should be ashamed..."

"After 200,000 miles, a check engine light had gone on, and the car was burning more gas. It needed a replacement head gasket and some rebuild work. It now functions nearly like new."

"Brake line broke due to age & wear. Car seemed to be operating fine, it had been inspected only a few weeks prior to the incident and earlier in the day, Id driven down quite a steep hill and stopped at the bottom with no problem. With no previous warning, the brake alarm light on the dash started flashing and making warning tones, and I realized I had virtually no brakes. Luckily I was in a flat parking lot at the time so was able to coast to a spot out of traffic flow & call to have vehicle towed."
