"The dealer informed me that I have need to replace the timing cover gasket that has a slow oil leak. The cost of this repair is $4,700. I called Toyota customer service and was basically told so sad too bad. I did a little internet research and found that this is a recurring problem that Toyota had not addressed, instead sticking some unlucky customers with this absurdly expensive gasket replacement. I dont know if they have corrected it yet. For now I am monitoring the oil level and drips, that do not seem problematic yet. This is something the CR should investigate with Toyota. This was my first Toyota that I purchased to take me well into retirement as they are usually very reliable. Probably my last Toyota."
