    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    CD player

""CD quick working, will not eject or receive a CD. This has been broken all year, actually since the car was approximately 6+ years old.""

    Display screen freezes up

"display touch screen has become unresponsive so I have to manually change the stations and am unable to switch to AM radio -started about two years ago and will not be getting it repaired - am trying to spend as little as possible"

Anonymous A., TX (2014 Toyota Camry XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"The touch screen becomes unresponsive or does the wrong thing. Also volume knob only increases the volume know."

Anonymous A., TX (2014 Toyota Camry SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"It just began and the display appears to have a "short" that causes random "freeze up" of the screen."

Anonymous A., OH (2014 Toyota Camry Unsure Unsure)

"Whole screen is not frozen but certain areas of the screen don't work. Example the lower two lines of the display won't react to my touch. I wish to change the radio station by touching AM 670 as a preset. I touch the screen for AM 670 and nothing happens. I tried to trouble shoot it and that didn't work. I can manually change the station but the anything I touch at the bottom won't work. So the balance/fade settings are locked in to how I have it now. Can't fade to the back speakers only for that requires me to touch the bottom of the screen. Bottom of screen does not work."

Anonymous, WI (2014 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Display screen goes blank

""The bottom icons in the console screen display is faulty. All icons are viewable, but when a bottom icon is pressed the icon above it is activated. So the bottom icons are viewable, but cannot be activated because their actual input is off the bottom of the screen. This problem for the 2014 Camry's has been reported on many Camry internet message boards. Dealers refuse to replace the faulty console screen without customers paying for it. Toyota should do a recall on this issue.""

Anonymous, VA (2014 Toyota Camry SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

""The entire audio system is out along with the display screen, so nothing can be obtained or used via the display screen. USB port does not function too""

    Anonymous A., MO (2014 Toyota Camry SE 3.5-L V6)

"Sometimes the display screen goes white and then will randomly switch back."

Anonymous, OR (2014 Toyota Camry XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

""The USB interface is problematic. I've done all the firmware updates and it still works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I've replaced my USB cord with one that works on other devices and it won't work in the Camry. When it does connect the media center also default plays music and there is no way to turn this off. Combined with the screen display issue, this is a faulty console and Toyota should issue a recall and replace the console.""

Anonymous, VA (2014 Toyota Camry SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Hardware replacement

"The calibration on the infotainment touchscreen will drift over time, eventually making it difficult to click on the bottom navigation menu buttons. For a while, a common workaround is using a credit card to click below the screen bevel. The unit in my car drifted below that and became unusable. This seems to be a common issue with this generation of Camrys."

Anonymous, TX (2014 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Heads-up display

"The infotainment system is basically useless now because it no longer reacts to touch. The radio seems to work and the system doesn't seem to be frozen. It's just completely unable to be interacted with now. There are a few other physical buttons that no longer function."

Anonymous A., CA (2014 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Other in-car electronics problem

"When you click on a button on the screen it makes a different selection, so you need to use the audio controls on the steering wheel."

Anonymous, QC (2014 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"I think the Bluetooth module is kaput. Ive rebooted the cars electronics 2 times to no avail. Its not a big problem because we dont use our cell phone in the car much anyway."

Anonymous, BC (2014 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Dropped some contacts. Cant call from screen."

Anonymous, LA (2014 Toyota Camry Unsure 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Display control for radio and speaker volumn controls and Bluetooth controls unresponsive on touch screen."

Anonymous, (2014 Toyota Camry SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

""It has been messed up for a long time, like a a few years after I got it in 2016. You can't click anything on the screen right because it isn't calibrated and you can't update it because you can't push the buttons to do it""

Anonymous, KY (2014 Toyota Camry SE Unsure)

"Initially the Bluetooth became unusable due to audio distortion. Now the touch screen has become barely operative with unstable response to touching that occurs off center from the desired selection point. At times you need to touch to the left of your mention choice. As a result the GPS is now useless"

Anonymous, FL (2014 Toyota Camry XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Radio

"It turns itself on and off and changes stations on its own. And wont let you turn it on or off or change stations. You cannot use the display screen at all."

Anonymous, MS (2014 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"The digital controls for the radio started to not work properly after 11 years."

Anonymous A., OH (2014 Toyota Camry Unsure Unsure)

""From the very beginning (2014) every once in a while the radio would go out. It would work again until the car was turned off & restarted. It never happened to the tech, so nothing was ever done - typical""

    Anonymous A., MO (2014 Toyota Camry SE 3.5-L V6)

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    A/C compressor

""It started this Spring when the A/C was slow to come on. It got progressively worse and after a couple of weeks, the A/C completely failed. My mechanic figured out it was the compressor. He gave me the option to replace it with one from a local source for $800, or one he could purchase on Amazon for only $400. I chose the latter. It works great.""

Anonymous A., MA (2014 Toyota Camry SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Temperature of a/c on the driver side not as cool as on the passenger side. Started two weeks ago. Not fixed."

Anonymous A., NC (2014 Toyota Camry SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"The compressor stopped working and had to be replaced"

Anonymous, ON (2014 Toyota Camry XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

""Approximately 1 year ago, the auto function of the a/c stopped come on automatically. There is a delay of about one minute before the system will kick in. It sometimes starts by itself but more often I have hit the one button to start it. It always starts and still cools the car. My mechanic told me it would take several hours to repair the problem. At over $100 an hour I can live with it for now.""

Anonymous, NY (2014 Toyota Camry XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"hot air was blowing when A/C button was pushed in April 2025. a/c top up kit from Cdn Tire didn't work. Mechanic diagnosed it was compressor. Estimate of $2300 to replace it precluded decision not to resolve issue."

Anonymous, ON (2014 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Automatic climate control

"The switch within the system would not change the vents the air was blowing out of. the system still worked but for example would blow air out of the dash when trying to defrost the windshield ."

Anonymous, OH (2014 Toyota Camry XLE 3.5-L V6)

"Heater gave out. $4500 repair as have to remove the entire dash."

    Anonymous A., OR (2014 Toyota Camry SE 3.5-L V6)
    Refrigerant leaks

"AC stopped cooling and mechanic said it was a hose leak and estimate was $850 - not sure if I can survive another Houston summer without AC but it's tough to spend money on a very old car -"

    Loose interior trim or moldings

"right A-pillar trim got loose. A body shop did not want to touch it due to potential liabilities as a air bag is located behind it. Even though this is an easy problem to solve as a simple $5 clip needs to be replaced (15 min of labor max), Toyota dealers quoted a minimum of $250 it."

    What Owners Say

    Electrical failure

""One morning my car wouldn't start. It was cranking, but wouldn't catch. No fuses were blown and it had a little more than half a tank of gas. My mechanic suspected the fuel pump had failed. I had it towed to him. He found that critters had been nesting in some compartment near the wiring for the fuel pump (there were acorns in it). The critters had chewed through some of the wires right next to a plug or socket. The really bad news is that a wiring harness costs $1000 and involves another $1000-$1500 in labor. Dealers won't sell anything other than the whole harness. My mechanic was hoping to find a "pig tail" for this end of the harness for much less. He found a pig tail on Amazon for only $20.00 that is for the exact make and model of my car! He ordered it on Friday May 23rd. It should arrive by Tuesday the 27th. He plans to splice it in, and says it should be only a couple of hours of labor. I like my mechanic a lot. He does great work and saves me thousands of dollars over what I'd have to spend at a dealer.""
