    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    CD player

"Since the touchscreen failed, the CD player is unusable."

Anonymous A., PA (2015 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"CD failure was part of the head unit failure in October 2024. I did not replace the CD player."

Anonymous, MA (2015 Toyota Camry XSE 3.5-L V6)
    Display screen freezes up

"screen is lock up cannot change time radio does not work"

Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"The touchscreen failed, rendering the radio and CD player unusable."

Anonymous A., PA (2015 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

""Estimating issues started about 3 years ago. The screen touch placement was off, so would have to touch well below on screen display areas to get a response. After having several.cell phones connected to it, was unable to connect my last 2 cellphones because the touch area would have been well below the the screen. Then developed into not responding at all to touch and just frozen now.""

Anonymous A., KY (2015 Toyota Camry SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"It happened kinda gradually. I had the known issue of the touch screen's calibration drifting (likely an issue with the display panel from lack of weathering), but eventually the screen started registering phantom presses for a while and now doesn't register anything most of the time. The display computer has occasionally crashed and rebooted, but now the steering wheel media controls don't work. The Bluetooth pairing for my phone still works, and so do only the volume and tuning knobs (seems weird to me) so I control it from there. This is still ongoing, and I'll likely need to replace the whole unit at some point, hopefully with a camera and wheel control compatible module. Like I said this media center model is known to have issues, so an OEM replacement part will just require another replacement later"

Anonymous, SC (2015 Toyota Camry XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Display touch screen non responsive (replacement cost would be about $1200"

Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Camry SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"I push for instance an a to type, and a p is displayed or the typing function stops working completely."

Anonymous, TX (2015 Toyota Camry XSE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

""When i use the onboard speakers to talk on the phone the speakers break-up and then garble the words of both myself and the other party. This significantly interferes with my ability to get information, and or directions while in the car.""

Anonymous, WA (2015 Toyota Camry XSE 3.5-L V6)
    Hardware replacement

""Head unit failed in October 2024, resulting in loss of function of radio, CD player, navigation system, and smartphone interface. Replacement quote was $5000 for OEM unit. I chose to replace it with a third-party replacement unit (Pioneer) for $700, in December 2024.""

Anonymous, MA (2015 Toyota Camry XSE 3.5-L V6)
    In-dash navigation system (GPS)

Anonymous, TX (2015 Toyota Camry XSE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Other in-car electronics problem

"Touch screen buttons moved and some features cannot be used in particular the Bluetooth cell phone. Cannot delete our old phones or add new phones. Toyota wouldn't cover a replacement. Bought a Pioneer unit at Best Buy."

Anonymous, RI (2015 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"I only owned the car for 3 months, when I got it some spots on touch screen work, some do not. Can't sync a phone or device, cant access some screens."

Anonymous, PA (2015 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

    "can not connect"

Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Camry LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Radio

"Touch screen buttons shifted out of place. It made certain functions unusable. I had to replace the the unit entirely. It was far less costly to replace with a higher quality sounding unit than poor sounding factory model. You would think they would use something better since there were many things upgraded in the SE model."

Anonymous, CT (2015 Toyota Camry SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Radio plays but can not select channels via display. Currently can search through AM channels only with knob but slow process"

Anonymous, FL (2015 Toyota Camry XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Had it painted twice under recall, then we went in a 3rd time for same issue, same place. Toyota would not honor a repair of the paint. They advised it was an expired warranty, even though they made the past 2 repairs."

"Just noticed the paint starting to peel along the rear passenger door. Havent gotten it fixed. Just a minor issue"

Anonymous, PA (2015 Toyota Camry Unsure 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

""Last year the inside of the fenders under the hood were missing paint, the front of the hood had paint spots that had come off and there were no other signs. The Corporate office handled it and passed it on to the dealership. Dealership took it to a collision shop that had an 8 year apply bondo, spray paint the area and everything around it, including the rubber and the windshield. It went right back and they fixed it, again. Six week ago, I put some gas in the car and went to wipe the windows down on road trip. The windshield pillars are now missing large swaths of paint. Called Toyota Coporate, got a case number and was told the dealership would be in touch with me. (Three or four weeks ago.) Called the dealership a few days later. Told again, someone will bein touch with me. Went there today and was told that the paint warranty is no longer valid and had expired two weeks ago.""

Unfortunately, to replace the 50 dollar timing chain gasket, the entire engine must be removed! That's a 5,000 repair! I would never buy this car again unless I had an extended warranty. This engine is in other models as well. And the head gasket issue is also very common! Toyotas are not categorically great. You've got to do your homework!!!""
