What Owners Say
"The large display screen on the Prime XLE has simply lost the ability to recognize touch. This means there are many things that can no longer be set in the audio and climate systems in particular."
Anonymous A., WA (2020 Toyota Prius Prime XLE 1.8-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)"Communication unit initialization fails every time the car is started. A new module is required. Cost including diagnosis and replacement is 1400 CAD. There is an updated module because the original had problems but because the car is more than 36 months old it is not covered by warranty."
Anonymous, AB (2020 Toyota Prius Prime LE 1.8-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)"The microphone and 2 speakers stopped working so phone calls with car system were no longer possible. Dealership spent several hours with the car and said radio would need to be replaced and estimated $1200-$1700. I found an online recommendation to disconnect the battery for half an hour. I did this and it resolved the problem. It has not recurred (about 12 months since it was resolved)."
Anonymous, TN (2020 Toyota Prius Prime LE 1.8-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)"It occurs most often when I initiate a call with my cellphone. The screen asks for the basic connection info. The incoming phone call sound and display is delayed. It used to connect almost immediately."

"Because the screen on this Prime XLE stopped responding to touch, voice commands via Apple Play are very important, but Siri needs more smarts, and sometimes the connection to the car just fails with an Apple CarPlay error that is otherwise unidentified."
