"Probably a combination meter going bad. Started about 30 months ago. Happens off and on - maybe a total of 7 or 8 times. Common problem in this model year. Search internet for blank display. Will cost probably at least $1000 for dealer to fix. For the mechanically minded you can buy refurbished combo meters to install yourself but it requires major do-it-yourself skills; too much for me. Issue also sometimes prevents car from shutting off. Issue can be fixed temporarily with a weird song-and-dance of opening driver's door and pushing a sequence of buttons. Will be selling car soon."

"Several years ago the plastic cover to the rear hatchback latch started disintegrating. As a result it melted into the latch mechanism and the hatchback would not open sometimes. Apparently it was a common problem for Prius but there was never a recall to my knowledge. Toyota quoted me approx $900 to fix."

"We can no longer control the rear passenger side window. We have not had it fixed because it's too expensive for the age of the car and we rarely carry passengers in the back seat."
