What Owners Say
"Replaced front control arms due to knocking sound over bumps"
Anonymous, MA (2012 Toyota Prius Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The rear wheel hubs are welded onto the rear axle beam using thin sheet metal. Most of the sheet metal had rusted away, leaving only 2-3 inches of actual connecting mestal and causing the rear wheels to wobble and sway. The mechanic informed me that a hard turn could have caused the wheel hubs to snap off entirely. A used, good-condition axle beam was installed to replace the rusted out one. Toyota dealers called the car totalled and refused to fix it, but a private mechanics shop was able to do it with warrantied second hand parts for around $2k."
