    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Android Auto

"1. It loses connection and the account needs to be reestablished. 2. The system times out while I'm driving."

    Anonymous A., NY (2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"We have a wireless connection to android auto, from our new samsung Galaxy S23FE 5G phones. Unfortunately, it doesn't always connect. It seems to connect wirelessly about 80 or 90% of the time. Unfortunately, it's aggravating when it doesn't connect, because we now use google-maps for most of our navigation. When it works, it's great. But when it doesn't, we are already driving down the road. it says something like - can't connect to doug phone. On the android-auto screen, I then hit Toyota / settings / bluetooth, and try to manually connect. If that doesn't work, I pull over and turn the car off and start it up again. Sometimes that works. If that doesn't work, then I pull out the USB cable, and physically connect it. that typically works. But i shouldn't need to do that. I brought it in, and they updated android-auto on my car, and tested it on their phone, and it worked, but like i told the guy, it works on mine about 85% of the time as well. Sure enough, about 3 days later, it didn't work again. they tried to fix it, but eventually said that maybe it's my phone. But i said -= the same thing happens sometimes to my wife's phone. (which is also a samsung S23). There are other problems as well, such as not always understanding our voice commands. Also the user-interface for using just radio-music is horrible. My wife now hates the infotainment system so much, she wants us to sell the car and buy a different car."

    Apple CarPlay

"Many times I have to go through signing up over and over. The worst problem is that when I try to listen to a text, the volume of my music gets louder or continues to play which makes it extremely difficult to listen to my text. I have taken this problem on numerous occasions to the dealership. They say it is a common problem with the new system. I had a RAV4 before this one and never had this problem. Very annoying and dangerous."

    Anonymous A., VA (2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"When using navigation, the system would disconnect for no reason (either wired or wireless) just when we needed it to assist us. Very dangerous situation."

Anonymous, PA (2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Unable to connect iPhone to use Apple CarPlay. It started 8 months in. I experience it some of the times and the problem has not been fixed."

    "Just a glitch"

Anonymous, CA (2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
    Display screen goes blank

"The first time it happened I thought I was in a dead zone. Ive read its a common issue. Once the car is turned off and re-started it resolves."

Anonymous, CA (2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
    Hardware replacement

"The JBL media system head unit had a complete failure 4 months and 2500 miles into ownership. It took multiple visits to two dealers, 60 days and a lot of complaining to Toyota Corporate to get a replacement unit. Turns out the "JBL branded" head unit is made by an OEM manufacturer and NOT JBL. Surprise!!"

Anonymous, CA (2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
    Heads-up display

"Infotainment system works inconsistent. 50% of the time I have to restart or or adjust the system. Very disappointing."

    Anonymous A., CA (2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
    Other in-car electronics problem

"Come to find out, the 2023 RAV4 has Soy based insulation on the engine compartment wiring. The material is attractive for rats to chew on and destroy, causing a non-warranty $1,300 repair. Funny my 2010 RAV 4 has parked in the same space to a decade, no issues. It has it's original, intact wiring harness 14 years later."

    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"Sometimes it doesn't pair and when it does it tends to take a long time."

Anonymous, NC (2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"When Im already on a call. The Bluetooth will not connect. Ill have to turn the car off and turn it back on. Sometimes multiple times"

Anonymous, NC (2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Radio volume would suddenly decrease to a very low volume. Had to adust volume to max to hear. Corrected itself after restarting the vehicle."

    Anonymous A., OK (2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Audio system kept rebooting then go blank. This was intermittent at first then repeatable. Phone connection was slow and erratic. My dealer re-installed the audio unit as if it was replaced. No more issues since then."
