    Reliability

    Predicted Reliability

We expect the 2024 RAV4 Prime will be much more reliable than the average new car. This prediction is based on data from 2022, 2023, and 2024 models.

    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2024 Toyota RAV4 Prime owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Apple CarPlay

"Seemingly at random, carplay switches away from the radio onto another source (usually Amazon Music, which I don't use). Sometimes it keeps switching back even when I try to fix it. This can be seriously distracting when I'm trying to drive."

    Other in-car electronics problem

"Toyota has an app 6hat lets you monitor the cars status, to include charge status and to do things like lock and unlock it. This was all set up by the dealer at purchase. After a few weeks my iPhone updated and the vehicle was removed from the app. Ive not been able to get the car reloaded into the pp. the folks at the Toyota dealership also have not been able to get things back to where they were."

    Paint And Trim

Paint (fading, chalking, peeling, or cracking), loose interior or exterior trim or moldings, rust.

    What Owners Say

    Other paint & trim problem

"The plastic window trim at the rearward edge of the front passenger door started bubbling up as if the trim was improperly adhering to the metal. It has the appearance of being melted. This started 2 weeks after the new car was delivered, with less than 200 miles on the odometer. The Toyota dealership denied that it was under warranty, saying it was "solar damage". This is unreasonable since all cars are designed to be used outdoors. We're in the San Francisco Bay Area, where the temperature was 60F or below and cloudy most days during the time this occurred. The rubber window seal in direct contact with the plastic trim shows no evidence of exposure to high temperatures. If it was "solar damage" as the dealership claimed, then we can conclude that either the trim plastic was improperly specified or was not manufactured within specifications. Or the trim was improperly installed, somehow damaged and weakened during installation. In either case it speaks of low quality assurance on Toyota's part. The problem is not yet resolved and will be taken directly to Toyota to see what they have to say about it."

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.
