What Owners Say
"Front lower control arms bushings are bad, moving around. $1,100 repair required."
Anonymous, FL (2010 Toyota RAV4 Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"Occasionally there is a thump from the rear when turning. There is apparently a worn bushing that the local garage was unable to replace."
Anonymous, QC (2010 Toyota RAV4 Base 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"The car didn't feel right when I went over a bump or took a sharp turn. I found that two control arms needed to replaced as well as front struts and rear shocks. I have driven many rough dirt roads in the mountains and desert, so I considered this normal wear and tear after 113,000 miles. After these replacements the car felt like new!!"
Anonymous, CA (2010 Toyota RAV4 Sport 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"I was moving from Port Alberni to Saanichton and going back and forth with loads of stuff over mountain roads very curvy and the steering and handling seemed off to me - took it into the port Alberni Toyota dealership who I dealt with and they diagnosed it with the problems I meantioned earlier in this survey - lower control arms & trailing arms - they completed the necessary repairs Ive had no difficulty since"
Anonymous, BC (2010 Toyota RAV4 Sport 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"The 2010 RAV-4 steering is electronic and has no mechanical link between the steering wheel and tires. My daughter, a college was driving back to college on a Sunday, in Interstate traffic when the car charging light came on. Only being 30 miles away from her destination she continued her drive. Around 20 minutes later the car abruptly flashed all the dash caution lights and stopped the engine, including locking the steering wheel since it is electronic. She now is on the Interstate and cant turn the wheel to get off. This design flaw is known and has been known to Toyota, but no recall or Service Bulletin has been issued to owners. I guess enough people have not been injured or killed for the NTSB to get involved, but this is very dangerous design flaw."
Anonymous A., SC (2010 Toyota RAV4 Limited 3.5-L V6)"Normal wear on the struts."
Anonymous, SK (2010 Toyota RAV4 Base 3.5-L V6)"Rear tie rods were a recall and the fix was to epoxy them and make them non-adjustable. That way if you changed the rear suspension again, you had to replace the tie rods again. What a boneheaded fix. This was Toyotas way of not taking responsibility."

"The problem was discovered when the alignment was checked as part of routine maintenance. We were not aware there was a problem before then. Repair required the dealership to order a part which took a week to be delivered. During that time, the car was not available to us."
