What Owners Say
"We bought it used in the fall of the previous year. Haven't fixed AC yet. Seller & shade tree mechanic ran diagnostics and replaced coolant - it leaked again, but no one could find the leak. going to take it to dealer."
Anonymous, NC (2005 Toyota Tacoma Base 2.7-L 4 Cyl)"AC wore out needed to be replaced."
Anonymous, WI (2005 Toyota Tacoma Base 2.7-L 4 Cyl)"A/C compressor just stopped working / failed mechanic said he never saw it fail without being in an accident and staid it would cost close to $2K"
Anonymous, (2005 Toyota Tacoma Base 2.7-L 4 Cyl)"Anymals, probably chipmunks, fully filled the squiirelcage fan to build a nest. The mechanic replaced the fan and motor, but in retrospect, there was no damage that a simple cleaning would have cured"
Anonymous A., ON (2005 Toyota Tacoma 4.0-L V6)"Had to sit for three hours in traffic shut down and had ac running the whole time. Afterwards it started squealing when I turned the ac on. Dealer said metal fragments through whole system. Replaced at cost of $5000."
Anonymous, WA (2005 Toyota Tacoma 4.0-L V6)"AC failure. Even having a shop diagnose the problem could be costly and I *had* to spend over $6K to reinforce the frame to pass inspection/ be safe to drive. Ill investigate AC myself. In the meantime Ill avoid using the car when AC is a necessity. Heat works fine."
