    Oil leaks

"Took it in for a regular maintenance to Toyota dealership and they texted me that it had a front seal oil leak that would cost $5,504 to fix. I declined the repair, took the truck to another mechanic. They could see the evidence of a possible seep or leak. they cleaned the engine and ran the truck for a day, did not see evidence of a seep or leak and recommend against the expensive repair and just watch the oil level."

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    What Owners Say

    Transmission rebuild or replacement

"The transmission failed at 66,900 miles. The replacement cost to me was $4400. I had this work done at Aamco. Toyota quoted me $7000 so I didnt use them. This was extremely disappointing to me because I bought the Tacoma based on its longevity, reliability and relative maintenance free issues. After this happened, I researched transmission problems for 2016 Toyota Tacomas & sure enough that was a year they had transmission problems. Overall, the truck seems to be well built, and we have enjoyed it, but that transmission issue at such low mileage was just about a dealbreaker for me. Another issue I have is the low gas mileage. The truck gets. I typically average maybe 20 miles a gallon and I dont pull a trailer or heavy loads or anything. This truck is babied and kept in the garage all the time so it isnt worked hard."

    Anonymous A., OK (2016 Toyota Tacoma SR5 3.5-L V6)
