Display screen freezes up

"When the screen freezes I have to reboot the radio by holding the volume control button in for about 20 seconds. Once the system reboots it's good for about a week or two when it will freeze up again I'll reboot the system again."

"Six months after purchase, the infotainment system would black out suddenly. We could hear music playing, but had no touchscreen, button, or steering wheel control of the system. We would have to cycle the car off and on up to three times to get controls back. Even after the three of four software updates, it happens from time to time."

"Screen does very dim, sometimes totally dark. Restarting the car does not reset it. Difficult to read the map, back-up camera, gauges."

"Looses about a pint of coolant every 2000 miles. I've brought it into the dealer numerous times to complain but they can't find the leak. Volkswagen has issued a Technical Service Bulletin #15-23-01 about a defective head gasket. My dealer, so far, says the head gasket is fine. So they continue to add coolant every time I pass their dealership."

Head gasket

"Leak started 12 months after purchase. Dealership filled it with fluid and told me if it happened again, use their coolant or water in a pinch. happened again 3 month later, and I filled it with some of their collant and some water. Early December 2023, late at night,an hour from home, it over heated again. Added water, drove 5 minutes, light came back on. filled it again with water, drove 3 minutes,light came back on. Added still more water, would not cool down. Called for a tow to nearest VW dealership. Found out we were 16th in line for a new gasket head. Got a loaner, but it took THREE MONTHS fo get it fixed. I do not trust this car. Replacing it with a new Mazda this weekend."

"It started about 6 months after purchase. It usually didnt work when it was either freezing or very hot outside. Most of the time it works with the myVW app, but taking the time to log in seemed like an unnecessary step. When using the key fob, it rarely works. Weve gone through three or four software updates already, yet the problem still persists."

Premature brake wear

"I had service done on Taos on December of 2023. This was my 30000 mile service. I was told that my rear brakes needed replacing. At the time I had 29,837 miles on the vehicle. I had to pay $525 for a brake job on a leased vehicle with less then 30,000 miles. I was very upset since I have owned 5 Volkswagens and never had this happen. I am retired and don't do any city driving. We live in a small coastal town in Delaware. I also did some research a found and article on the defective brake pads that VW had put on the vehicle and that they had extended the warranty of the pads to 20,000 miles but this didn't help me. Not sure I would ever buy another VW. This is my seconded leased VW but never had this problem. Why lease?"
