    First Take
The redesigned S60 is a huge leap forward compared with the old car, with enjoyable driving dynamics and a quiet, well-finished interior. The top-level T6 trim with all-wheel drive is quick, agile, and refined, but it doesn't come cheap. The $35,000 front-wheel-drive T5 version has just gone on sale. Volvo has fitted the S60 with its latest safety features, including City Safe and an optional pedestrian-detection system that, at low speeds, will stop the car if it detects a person in the car's travel path.
