    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    Heater system

"The heater stopped working suddenly a few months ago. I took it to the dealer, who diagnosed the problem and ordered a new part, which came in a week later. All is working fine, now."

    Anonymous, NJ (2022 Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Recharge 2.0-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

"The electric heater unit failed within the first cold season. It was replaced by the dealer at no charge, but waited months. The new unit failed again this season. I will have it replaced soon."

    Anonymous A., MD (2022 Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Recharge 2.0-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

    "Electric Heater Failed"

    Anonymous, IL (2022 Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Recharge 2.0-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

    Drive System

Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, electronic stability control.

    What Owners Say

    Differential

"We started hearing a loud clanging noise when the electric drivetrain was engaging at low speeds. The vehicle had approximately 20,000 miles on it. We took the car to a dealer in Cedar Rapids and they diagnosed that the reae electric drivetrain was failing prematurely. They replaced the rear differential and other related parts. It was a $9,000+ repair that took about one week. All parts and labor were covered by Volvos warranty. I am now wary of owning and maintaining this vehicle after the warranty expires."

    Anonymous A., IA (2022 Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Recharge 2.0-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

    Body Hardware

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.

    What Owners Say

    Tailgate, hatch or trunk

"When we had below freezing temperatures (we live in DC) part of the hatchback hydraulic system froze and when I opened the trunk it was unable to close and I had to jam it closed, which cracked the hydraulic system. It was covered by warranty but it was really annoying because it took nearly 2 weeks to get fixed and the dealership repair shop did not have any loaner cars."

    Anonymous, DC (2022 Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Recharge 2.0-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

    Paint And Trim

Paint (fading, chalking, peeling, or cracking), loose interior or exterior trim or moldings, rust.

    What Owners Say

    Loose exterior trim or moldings

"A piece of trim around the wheel well came off, not sure how. It was covered by volvo under warranty"

    Anonymous, IL (2022 Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid R-Design 2.0-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Display screen goes blank

"The display screen goes blank and entire infotainment system stops working at random times sometimes when I turn the car on, sometimes in the middle of driving, and while it usually come back on any time between 1-20 minutes later it can be really problematic."

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.
