The XC90 is very good, but most competing models were better. Its flexible and comfortable interior, seven-passenger seating capacity and broad array of safety features make it a good family car. This was the first vehicle to feature roll-stability control to help prevent rollovers. Ride and handling are adequate and the Volvo is secure at its handling limits. But the XC90's weight and its weak base engine make it slow and not very fuel-efficient.
