If you’re in the market for a new air purifier, vacuum, dehumidifier, or other items you need around your home, you may be able to find them at a discount right now. We’re in the long stretch between big sales, with the next one arriving for Memorial Day. But as winter winds down, retailers often start rolling out savings on seasonal items to encourage shoppers to start thinking about spring—getting the year ready, deep cleaning the house, that sort of thing.
We have evaluated all of the products in this list and monitor the prices of everything we test all year to help you know exactly what kind of deal you’re getting. This allows us to provide as much context as possible to help you make informed decisions, whether you decide to buy now, hold out for a better price later, or choose one retailer over another.

Carpet Cleaners
The Dirt Devil Compact Portable Spot Cleaner is $20 back to its best price at Amazon. It is a light little carpet cleaner at just 9 pounds with a full tank of solution. While the portable cleaners in our tests don’t measure up to full-sized machines in terms of their cleaning abilities, this model did well, especially when it comes to drying. It’s also one of the quieter models we tested. The tank isn’t huge (partly why the cleaner is so light), but if you’re just using it for spills and spot-cleaning, this model will do the trick.
A high performer among the portable carpet cleaners we tested (which, as a group, clean less effectively than full-sized machines), the Shark StainStriker PX201 Carpet Cleaner is decent at cleaning stains and impressive at removing cleaning solutions from carpets, leaving them dry. We also gave it a very good score for convenience, which combines cord length, weight, and ease of filling and emptying. It comes with a 57-inch hose and other attachments, including pet tools.
Vacuums
For a less expensive option than other robovacs, the Eufy C10 T2292 is a great choice if you don’t have too many carpeted areas in your home. While it’s only middling at cleaning dust and debris from carpets, it’s excellent at cleaning bare laminate floors in our lab tests. The vacuum is also impressive at cleaning up pet hair, making it ideal for pet owners.
This vacuum’s body is slimmer than those of the other vacuums we’ve tested, and its low clearance means it’s less likely to get caught under furniture. Although the vacuum’s dustbin is on the smaller side, that might not be much of a problem, because the vacuum automatically deposits debris into a self-emptying station.
This Black+Decker POWERSERIES Extreme BSV2020P vacuum performs well in CR’s tests overall but struggles with edge cleaning. A few pluses: It’s self-standing, has a brush on/off switch, and features a filter cleaning dial that empties the filter dust into the dustbin to prevent your hands from getting dirty. In CR tests, it runs for about 30 minutes per charge on low and 10 minutes on the high setting. The batteries can be used in other Black + Decker products. A few caveats: If you grab the dustbin while vacuuming, it may disengage. The vac is also a bit wobbly in self-standing mode.

Steam Mops
The GorFanty 10-in-1 MultiPurpose, which typically retails for $100, is an excellent cleaner with a decent steam rate. It takes only 20 seconds for the steam mop to produce steam, and its steam can last for around 10 minutes on its maximum setting. We like that you can adjust the length of the mop to accommodate people of different heights. The mop comes with plenty of accessories, including attachments for cleaning tile grout, clothes, furniture, windows, and carpets.
Towel Warmers
Vevor 35L Towel Warmer Bucket
This towel warmer became quite hot to the touch during use, with a maximum interior temperature of 164.25° F and external temperatures near the lid reaching 133.58° F. Still, the interior temperature was the lowest of all the maximum temperatures recorded for any of the towel warmers we tested.
Zadro Foldable Towel Warmer
This foldable hamper-style towel warmer is a good option if you’re short on bathroom space and don’t mind spending an extra minute or two setting it up each day. Zadro’s towel warmer is deceptively roomy. At first glance, you wouldn’t think that it can fit 6 large bath towels. It was also easy to open, close, and turn on and off with the attached remote control. A pocket on the exterior of the warmer holds the remote control when it’s not in use.
Air Conditioners
When it comes to large ACs, LG produces some of the quietest models on both low and high settings. It’s interesting to note that the very best scores come in two different units. The 12,000-Btu LG LW1222IVSM is super-quiet on the lowest setting, but on high, it’s only average. Its comfort score is strong, though, earning the big LG a top overall rating. And when it comes to the high setting, the 10,000-Btu LG LW1022IVSM excels. As a brand, LG ACs earn a top score in predicted reliability in addition to solid grades for owner satisfaction.
The Black+Decker BD06WT6 is a compact, no-frills air conditioner well-suited for cooling small spaces, like a bedroom or home office. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly window AC that’s dependable and simple to operate, the BD06WT6 gets the job done, especially in areas where power stability can be an issue.
It keeps the room reasonably comfortable and is relatively quiet on the low setting, but just average on high. Where this unit really impresses is dependability. It held strong in our brownout tests, continuing to run and restart even during simulated extreme heat and voltage dips. The controls are clearly labeled and easy to use, both on the unit itself and on the included remote. We don’t have enough reliability data on Black+Decker to give the brand a mark in that area.
The Hisense is the only smaller model in our ratings with a double hose, which might improve efficiency. In terms of cooling a room, the unit performs about as well as any of the portables, which is to say okay but not nearly as well as a top-performing window unit. It gets top scores for its ability to bounce back from a brownout, and while it isn’t exactly quiet, it’s less noisy than other small units we’ve tested. At 52 pounds, it’s also one of the lightest units we’ve tested. Hisense air conditioners get average marks for owner satisfaction and predicted reliability in our member survey.
Air Purifiers
The Levoit PlasmaPro 600S is a solid performer all-around, clearing the air of dust, pollen, and smoke at both higher and lower settings with great results. It’s noisy while running at a high speed, but it’s relatively quiet at low speeds, making it ideal for an office or bedroom. And you don’t have to worry about keeping track of filter changes: An indicator light alerts you when it’s time. This machine also has a dust sensor and a programmable timer.
A portable purifier that keeps your air clean and matches your mid-century modern design aesthetic—yes, please. The HoMedics AP-C500 is a large-room air purifier with a budget-friendly price tag (and an additional 20 percent off coupon makes this deal even friendlier). It performs impressively on both high and low speeds and is easy to use. Just expect a fair amount of noise while it’s running.
The HoMedics AP-T200 has impressive performance and an attractive design, similar to the AP-C500. It performs impressively on both high and low speeds and is easy to use. Just expect a fair amount of noise while it’s running. The major difference—this model is designed for medium rooms of 150-350 square feet, so it’s smaller in size and has a smaller price tag. Macy’s no longer lists this as a sale, but these are the only two retailers where this air purifier is available, and it originally sold for $300.
Bed and Bath
Despite the "cooling" in its name, this Nectar pillow doesn’t actually have cooling properties. Still, it’s one of the most breathable pillows we’ve evaluated and our tests show that it doesn’t retain warmth. This polyurethane foam and polyester pillow is also quite resilient and excels at offering support for side sleepers. Back sleepers, however, would be better served by the Coop Original.
This StyleWell pillow, available exclusively at Home Depot, is a great option if you’re a fan of memory foam, especially at this low price. It gets top marks for side sleepers and aces our tests for breathability. The pillow also performs very well when it comes to how its firmness, height, and support change with use. If you’re a back sleeper, you may want to consider other options, however, because it gets middling scores for that type of sleeper.
Guohaoi Cooling Blanket
The Guohaoi Cooling Blanket was the second most cooling blanket we tested. When wearing it for an hour, the evaluator reported it felt very cool and didn’t retain heat. The front of this blanket is constructed with nylon and polyester and feels like smooth, cool, swimsuit material. The back is made from Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified cotton. The stitching isn’t the neatest and feels a little inexpensive, and the two layers aren’t attached, but you can often expect some shortcomings for lower-priced items, and the important thing is that this blanket has a cooling effect as advertised.
Lab tests find that this topper from Casper doesn’t allow users to sink in as deeply as others. This topper feels like an actual mattress, adding a touch of medium softness where needed without allowing the body to sink in too much. The two-layer cushion combines a layer of softer foam over a firmer base layer of foam. At a little under 16 pounds, it’s easy to move around, and its machine-washable zip-off cover made of polyester, cotton, rayon, and spandex makes it easy to clean. However, this topper can not be flipped. Casper offers a 30-night risk-free trial, and its toppers are backed by a 5-year limited mattress topper warranty.

Candle Warmers
Funistree Candle Warmer Lamp
The fun design isn’t the only reason this strawberry candle warmer lamp makes a great gift. It also works great, melting the wax slowly while still creating a strong fragrance (which means a longer-lasting candle). Our tester also said spilled wax was easy to clean off the wood base, and it has three light settings.
Fimilo Candle Warmer Lamp
If you’re a fan of features, this lamp is for you. It’s got four different brightness settings and different color choices, and you can set three timer shut-offs for 2, 4, and 8 hours. The lamp height is adjustable, but our tester found the base to be a bit unwieldy, so it may not fit every candle. Its metal material also made spilled wax a little annoying to clean.
Power Tools
The brushless 12-volt DeWalt DCD703F1 delivers solid overall performance in CR’s tests. This lightweight 2.5-pound model earns strong ratings for speed, handling, charging time, and noise at ear level, plus a stellar rating for power. It’s a good choice that costs a bit less than the Milwaukee but still offers a battery usable with a broad range of other tools. It comes with a single battery, and it has a ⅜-inch chuck, so it can’t take the largest bits.
This DeWalt DCD701F2 drill has excellent power and above-average speed—plus, its handling is very good, too. It won’t take long to charge, and it won’t be especially noisy while working. This drill weighs 2.4 pounds, making it lighter than average. That said, it has a plastic chuck and doesn’t come with any bit storage.
The 20-volt heavy-duty brushless DeWalt DCD801QQ2 is one of our best performers across all three drill types, snagging top ratings for power, speed, and run time. The hefty 4-amp-hour battery that produces all that power makes this drill heavy, but the weight is fairly well distributed, so the drill handles well.

Ego’s battery-powered outdoor equipment consistently gets top marks from our testers. Consumer Reports has rated the following products from its 56-volt battery platform: string trimmers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, a hedge trimmer, and lawn mowers. This system of tools also includes a highly rated snow blower and a very good pressure washer, though they didn’t factor into the Overall Score. Tools can be bought with and without a battery, and you can buy a charger that takes two batteries at once. Ego also has a three-year warranty for its batteries.
Power Scrubbers
The Leebein Power Spin Scrubber ANS-8050 is a strong scrubber with an incredibly long battery life. It can last about an hour on its highest power mode, so it’s unlikely that it will die on you in the middle of cleaning. If the battery is entirely depleted, however, it will take a while to recharge. (In our tests, it took more than 3 hours.) The scrubber has two speeds: 300 rpm and 400 rpm. It scores well for ease of use because it comes with 8 attachments, the most among the models we tested, including a scouring brush for greasy kitchen areas, a sponge brush for glass, a wool-like brush for polishing a car, and cloth brushes for leather and floor cleaning. It’s also relatively light and features an extension wand that extends up to 50 inches, giving you a wide reach. The angle of the scrubber’s head is fixed and can’t be adjusted. Unlike some of the other models, it comes with an IPX7 waterproof rating, meaning it can withstand brief immersion in water.
Humidifiers
This humidifier, rated for small rooms, is a fantastic balance of quality and price. It’s plenty capable, and it has an indicator when the water level is low, so it’s easy to know when you need to add more (and it shuts off automatically if you don’t get there in time).
Washers
The LG WM3400CW is already quite inexpensive even when it’s not discounted, so the added savings are a bonus. Especially given the quality of its performance, it’s a smart buy as well as an environmentally friendly choice. You still get exceptional washing performance along with water and energy efficiency. But this model isn’t particularly gentle on fabric, so you might want to try the delicate cycle for your best threads. This washer’s claimed capacity is 4.5 cubic feet, and its cycle time is 105 minutes.
Overall, the Electrolux ELFW4222AW, which is now just $100 more than the best price we’ve seen and $50 more than it was for the last big sale, does very well across CR’s tests. Its washing performance and water efficiency are excellent, and its energy efficiency, gentleness on clothes, and vibration levels during its 65-minute operation earn very good ratings. Based on CR members’ responses from our most recent surveys, Electrolux got an excellent score for predicted reliability. (Electrolux and LG are the only companies with a compact washing machine that achieves this rating.) But its owner satisfaction score was only adequate.
One of the most budget-friendly top-load agitators in our tests, the LG WT7005CW is an eco-friendly Green Choice washer. It isn’t the gentlest on clothes, but it conserves energy and water. It’s among the quietest models in our tests and causes little to no vibration, meaning it won’t disturb you with rumbling. The cycle time is 70 minutes using the normal-wash, heavy-soil setting. Shorten it by using the normal-soil setting when you can.
Dryers
The top-rated LG DLE3400W is just $50 more than the last big sale. We expect it to perform similarly to the CR-tested LG DLEX3700W (now discontinued). The tested model delivers solid performance across the board, nabbing an ace rating for noise and ratings near the top in our drying and convenience tests. This stackable Energy Star certified machine, with a claimed capacity of 7.4 cubic feet, is equipped with a moisture sensor, an extended tumble, custom programs, and an end-of-cycle signal—offering all these features at a fairly low price.
